More than 100 million children in Latin America lack the basic supplies needed to attend school each day. Living in extreme poverty, many are forced to work for their survival. The lucky few who get the opportunity to attend school are sadly at a disadvantage due to the lack of basic school supplies-things that many students around the world take for granted: pens, pencils, paper, etc. Just one backpack filled with school supplies can help send a child to school, giving them the tools they need to make the most of the education they so richly deserve!
Juan, 7 yrs old
Meet Juan. When seven year old Juan was told that 'Give Back a Pack' would be visiting his school he could hardly contain his excitement!
Like many children, Juan's family is unable to afford much more than the bare essentials, let alone a brand new backpack for school. Local schools try their best to provide what they can for the children but unfortunately their budgets simply cannot cover the cost of supplies for everyone.
The ear to ear smile on Juan's face as he received his new backpack was simply heartwarming. It's amazing that something as simple a backpack and some basic supplies can change a child's life.
Laura, 5 yrs old
Meet Laura. Laura lit up with excitement when she was able to pick out her brand new backpack from the GBP truck. "Pink is my favorite color!!" she exclaimed as she proceeded to tell us that this was her first non-hand me down school bag (Laura has 3 older sisters). She could hardly wait to proudly display her new bag not only to her older sisters, but to her fellow classmates.
Like many other students Laura makes a very long and vigorous trek to and from school everyday. We were joyed to be able to give her something new and comfortable to help ease her daily journey and Laura was ecstatic to finally have something to call her own!
